Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has added recognition for division leaders to the annual employee recognition process. Shane Guynn was named the Instructional Leader of the Year, and Jamie Warren was named the Operational Leader of the Year.
Shane Guynn, assistant principal at Christiansburg High School, was named the MCPS Instructional Leader of the Year. Nominees for Shane Guynn highlighted his positive interactions with students, families, and staff and his professionalism even in stressful situations. Guynn has served as an assistant principal at CHS since 2016 and was previously the athletic director at the school.
“Exemplary leadership requires positive relationships and clear communication at its foundation, and Mr. Guynn excels in both of these areas,” said Bernard F. Bragen, Jr., division superintendent. “As a CHS graduate, teacher, and administrator, he brings a unique perspective to the school and fully embraces the school community.”
Jamie Warren, Electrical and Plumbing Lead, was 
named the MCPS Operational Leader of the Year. Nominations for Jamie Warren highlighted his high level of skill and his relationships with students, providing a positive role model in a skilled trade. Warren has 28 years of experience in electrical work and has worked at MCPS since 2017.
“Our students and staff rely on having safe and secure learning environments, and Mr. Warren responds immediately to all concerns and coordinates the work that needs to be done regarding routine maintenance tasks and emergency issues,” said Bragen. “His work leading our team of electricians and plumbers is commendable.”
A committee representing different employee groups helped develop the award's criteria, nomination process, and selection protocol. Honorees were chosen for leadership ability; shared vision focused on the best interest of students and staff; communication; and cultivating a positing and safe learning and working environment.
“Recognizing employees at all levels of the organization for excellence is a key component to encouraging and developing current and future leaders,” said Bragen. “Launching this award will inspire others to continue cultivating and enhancing their leadership skills. I am proud of these leaders and celebrate their commitment to the students and staff in MCPS.”
