Dr. Barbara Wickham was approved as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. She previously served as the Director of Elementary Education with Montgomery County Public Schools. She has more than 30 years of experience in Virginia’s public schools and is an excellent asset to Montgomery County Public Schools.

“I am humbled and grateful for this opportunity to continue to work alongside such an amazing team of educators in Montgomery County,” said Wickham. “I believe that the success and well-being of a community are directly related to the strength of its public education system, and I am excited that I can play a role in helping our division ensure that our students will graduate with the skills they need to become successful citizens.”

“When selecting candidates for the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum position, we decided to conduct an external posting to secure the highest caliber candidates,” said Superintendent Bernard F. Bragen, Jr. “After an extensive candidate review and interview process, we found a gem right here in our backyard in Dr. Wickham. Her expertise in the areas of curriculum and leadership is evident.”

Dr. Wickham has served as Assistant Superintendent in an interim capacity since September and has been the Director of Elementary Education since 2016. She received a bachelor's degree from Radford University, a master’s degree from Lynchburg College, and a doctorate from Virginia Tech.
