Health Insurance Updates

Employee Option for High Deductible Health Plan
Posted on 08/05/2015
anthemTwo major changes will occur during 2015 Open Enrollment - we have a new plan option for employees (high deductible health plan) and part-time employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week will be offered the same health insurance coverage as full-time employees. More information about each of these updates is provided below.

Part-Time Employee Benefits
Part-time employees who are eligible for health insurance benefits will receive notice of plan options from the Human Resources department in September. To be eligible for this benefit, an employee must work an average of 30 or more hours per week.

High Deductible Health Plan
MCPS has adopted the Anthem Lumenos High Deductible Health Plan as an additional health insurance options for employees. The HMO-Healthkeepers plan will continue to be the core plan for employees and will be offered at no cost to the employee. The high deductible plan will also be free for the employee only. If an employee chooses the high deductible plan for 15-16, the deductible amount ($1,320 for employee only, $2,640 for all other tiers) will be placed into a health savings account for the employee. The amount will be deposited in two equal payments in October 2015 and March 2016. Detailed information about the Lumenos High Deductible Health Plan will be explained during the open enrollment meetings, outlined below.
