School Board Meetings

School board meetings are regularly scheduled on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. and are typically held at the Operations Center, 208 College Street in Christiansburg. These meeting locations remain the same unless otherwise noted on the agenda.

Agendas are available via BoardDocs on the Friday before a Tuesday meeting.

Montgomery County residents, MCPS students, and School Board employees may appear in person at any regular meeting of the School Board. A person who wishes to address the School Board should make their request prior to the beginning of the School Board meeting by completing the online sign-up form before the end of public comment period: https://forms.gle/GVxiJUicVBQNyt5M6.

Those participating in public address electronically (via phone) must submit the form 24 hours in advance of the meeting start time.

Names will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Members of the community are not permitted to “sign-up” for anyone else.

A time frame of 30 minutes is set aside at the beginning of each regular meeting for the public to address the School Board. Comments will be limited to three minutes and one appearance.  Should the Board vote to extend public address beyond one hour, it will continue public address prior to meeting adjournment and after any closed session.

Any non-residents seeking an exception allowing them to speak to the School Board shall contact the clerk of the School Board no fewer than twenty-four hours prior to the start time of the meeting at which they request to speak. The School Board shall make a determination regarding the requested exception during the relevant public comment agenda item of the subject meeting.

The Montgomery County School Board utilizes Board Docs for their agenda and minutes. Public access to Board Docs is available at http://www.boarddocs.com/vsba/mcps/Board.nsf/Public.
